Weekend loading, yaaas! Oh you can't know how excited I am. Desperately counting the hours to..."TGIF!!! Thank God it's Friday." the last thread of my sanity. What if weekends don't exist, my word, I would go bonkers. I would definitely have a mental flip over.
The week was long, tiresome and stress-filled. Believe it or not I am so relieved to be finally kicking off my pumps and exchanging them for flip flops, my stiff corporate wear for P.Js and hairnet(pack all that loose hair and tuck them in for awhile) and of course my Dr. Dre headset.
Reasons why I like weekend... no scratch that.
I love weekends. It affords me the opportunity to do my thing. Feel up my love bank by investing in 'me' time; which, should be an inexpedient activity.
Each one of us, owe ourselves a date. At least once or twice out of a busy week. Hangout with yourself, have fun, treat yourself good, do what you enjoy doing, take a nature's walk, inhale flowers, go gaming. If make-up lights up your fire, then please go ahead and play with colours, experiment new looks. Play dress up even when you have no frigging where to go. This way you will not feel emotionally drained or under pressure, because life is demanding, family members are demanding, friends are demanding, work is demanding.
Me time helps you reconnect.
Me time helps you reconnect.
For introverts like me, who feel going out is too much trouble, then make your stay indoor just as fulfilling. Do this with good movies, crazy beats that make you actually burst a move. You can try out a new recipe if you love to cook, or use the weekend to prepare that dish you had been silently craving.
My aphrodisiac is a good novel. My oh my, a good novel is way better than chocolate bars or cake. I recently consumed Mini-Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella and trust me I found satisfaction in the 273 paged e-book.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was... amazing, I did not skip a page(lols, not even the table of contents), an emotion stirrer, sprinkled with loud guffaws here and there and peppered with dramatic personal exclamations! It was the special dish that added flava to my last weekend.
Sophie Kinsella the author of the shopaholic series must be a lively spirit herself to ably pull off a character as Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood; who on initial assessment ticks off as an airhead, with too much money to splash around. However on carefully study, Becky is actually a very intelligent personae, considerate, all embracing, romantic to a fault(if that is even possible). Beneath her vain exterior, and unhealthy addiction to shopping, she is a hardworking woman, determined and does not accept "NO" for an answer. Yes she takes rejection in good faith, be sure that after she clicks her heels away, she is coming back with an offer you can't reject. Several times in the course of the story, Becky's proposal to a financial magazine, or economy company was rejected, yet she never shelved her proposals. She improved on them and sent letters out again.
Noted she is a drama queen, and gives Luke quite a time trying to figure out her methods, her devotion as a wife and mother can not be questioned. Infact it passes all the relationship litmus test.
Mini Shopaholic is a sequel to Shopaholic and baby. Minnie is no longer a baby. She has grown into a feisty toddler. Testing boundaries, discovering just how much she can get away with and how far is really too far with her indulging parents. Twice and counting, minnie unleashed mayhem at a father christmas visit and they were banned from seeing Santa Claus. It would interest you to know that the little girl of two already has a few tricks up her sleeve when it comes to getting what she wants. Very easily she twists Becky's hand; adept at selecting beautiful, cut throat items, slicing a huge chunk off Becky's credit cards. Once, she tampered with mummy's laptop and ordered a catalogue of designer coats!
Like in all shopaholic series, the writing style is descriptive, fluid and engaging. Transitions from night and day, chapter after chapter, the reader faintly noticing. It is witty. It is engaging. Sophie Kinsella has crafted a story such that the reader is a participant, not just a by-stander.
Mini-Shopaholic is a book to be consumed with a bowl of crisp chips or popcorns beside you. It is an exposé of one of our collective weaknesses as ladies, shopping!
Impulsive shoppers, designer label freaks, addicted shoppers, those that shop depending on mood fluctuations(emotional shopping), this series is for you, it is the total package, a delicious rib racking delight.
